Woking Dance Festival – Funding Success

Woking Dance Festival is pleased to announce it has been successful in securing funding for the ‘Encounter’ project supported using public funding by The National Lottery through Arts Council England's ‘Grants for the Arts’ programme.

Working in partnership with Woking Borough Council, the Encounter project is designed to provide more opportunities for local communities to watch and take part in dance.  It will also integrate artist and audience development to support a vibrant dance infrastructure in Woking and Surrey. Woking Dance Festival will deliver Encounter over the next 12-months to build local and regional audiences, with a particular focus on families, children and young people. The project will ensure that our community has access to the highest quality dance activities, while also raising the profile of Woking.

Sam McCaffrey, Executive Producer, Woking Dance Festival, confirmed she was delighted with the award and the new opportunities it will provide for both dance artists and the local community. Woking Dance Festival are currently looking for people to take part in their Summer encounter Project. Would you like to have fun, meet new people, get fit and try something new and challenging? We are looking for up to 60 people to take part in a new, large scale, outdoor dance performance this summer at Woking Park. We want to hear from people of all ages and abilities who would like to take part in a newly commissioned dance work to be performed at Woking Borough Council’s Party in the Park on Saturday 13th July in Woking Park.
