SPIN
(part of the Guildford International Music Festival,
7 - 29 March)
Saturday 8 March, 4.30pm
At: PATS Dance Studio, Performing Arts Building, University of Surrey, Guildford Campus
What happens when dancers spin? Why do ballet dancers spin mostly to the right and Kathak dancers always to the left? What is at the heart of spin? Starting with the 'still point' of spin, dancers and musicians from the classical disciplines of ballet and Kathak go on an expedition into the creative chemistry between music and dance. Spin doctors - dancers Noni Jenkyn Hones and Jennifer, Jackson, composer Stephen Goss, musicians Tom Armstrong and Stewart Fenwick, and film-maker Deveril, lead the exploration during this in-the-round performance.
