with Henri Oguike and members of the company.

Henri Oguike, founder member of the Richard Alston Dance Company, brings his award-winning company to Woking for the first time. Acclaimed for his vigorous, intricate choreography and a strong sense of musicality, the charismatic Oguike and his company of six dancers present a diverse repertoire of energy-fuelled dance including two new works and live music with a string quartet.

Inspired by Henry Purcell’s operatic masterpiece, Dido and Aeneas is a powerful new work telling the enchanting and tragic story of two lovers thwarted by fate. Shostakovich’s 9th Quartet in E Flat is performed live by the Carducci Quartet for Front Line, a compelling work driven by constantly shifting moods of passionate anger and quiet lyricism. Oguike steals the stage with a dynamic solo, Frames Per Second, in which he explores the relationship between movement, light and sound. A new piece set to music by Rene Aubry offers a fresh, entertaining, fast-paced finale.
