A photographic Installation by
Allan F.Parker

This series of photographs features British Asian performers, and Asian performers who work in Britain. In common with the choreographic styles of many of the artists featured, these images seek to embrace contemporary western performance practices as well as other disciplines such as Wu Shu, Kalari, Baratha Natyam and contemporary Asian styles. The staging of the images refers obliquely to Asian Cinema, Television and Literature as well as to English portrait painting and current technological environments.

In addition to Invisible States there will also be an installation of publicity images by Allan F. Parker created for The Place to publicise Open Dance classes and courses for adults and children. The images feature students from London Contemporary Dance School, Shift Youth Dance Company and children from The Place’s Saturday classes.
