Music by Tchaikovsky

Bursting with his trademark style of wit, pathos, and theatrical magic, award-winning British choreographer Matthew Bourne opens the festival with his dazzling new show, Nutcracker!. From a Dickensian orphanage, through a shimmering ice-skating snowscape, to the spectacular candy folk of Sweetieland, this delicious production glitters with the kaleidoscopic fantasy of Busby Berkeley musicals.

Matthew Bourne has achieved worldwide artistic and critical success for his imaginative new versions of the classical ballets, Swan Lake, Cinderella, and a reworking of Bizet’s renowned opera, The Car Man. His now legendary Swan Lake was the longest-running ballet in the West End, winning over 25 international awards, and culminating in a Tony Award-winning season on Broadway. For musical theatre he has choreographed both Oliver! and My Fair Lady for which he recently won an Olivier Award.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s much-loved score with stunning costumes and sensational sets, Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker! promises a truly magical feast for all the family.
