“His new works are filigree choreographic structures,
drawn in space like calligraphy”

Ballet-Tanz
Celebrating their debut UK performance, Brazilian born choreographer, Rodolpho Leoni, and his German-based company of 5 dancers perform a visceral new dance piece, Baud.

Baud’ is the mathematical term measuring time per second. Leoni uses the same term for his choreography, which explores the speed of information as it passes between dancers and the audience. How fast can we see and sense movement? What triggers our perception of movement? In Baud pulsating movement patterns are transferred through tension, impulses and energies, weaving an intricate web of communication. Delicate, intimate gestures alternate with high velocity outbursts, catapulting dancers into sudden action, or freezing movement into powerful stillness.

A mesmerising performance of abstract choreography, Baud features striking lighting design with silver reflectors and a haunting soundtrack of lingering, cool jazz and crackling radio sounds.
