From Chennai (Madras), one of India’s most contemporary new voices, Padmini Chettur, brings her mesmerising production, 3 Solos, to the Festival for her
long-awaited UK premiere.

A meditation on the beauty and power of the human body, 3 Solos demands utmost concentration and skill. Taking a single body part as a starting point and gradually extending movement into space, Padmini Chettur creates moments of serene elegance and exquisite detail, morphing fluid and lithe movement with the rich rhythms of the mridangam drum and saxophone. The atmospheric music score is specially created by Maarten Visser.

In this stunning solo performance, Chettur steals the stage with a personal vision; drawing from sources of the classical Indian tradition of Bharata Natyam, her choreography is energised with a fresh and contemporary outlook.

Padmini Chettur is one of the most sought-after new artists from India and has performed in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
