Parent and Guardian testimonies for Oogly Boogly from Hay on Wye Festival 2004:
Brilliant idea - fascinating and fun for parents and children alike. Please come back next year.
A total and utter delight, tears from smiling so much! Thank you so much for such a pleasurable experience' Amazing experience, will make me look at my daughter in a whole new way!
Well done. What an innovative experience,
brilliantly executed - we all loved it and had fixed smiles for the full 45 minutes.
Fascinating duets and trios come out of the
process and even in periods when activity subsided, attention was turned towards quiet gestures with
subtle interactions.

Oogly Boogly asks the question - what happens when a 12-18 month year old is let loose in a soft, safe space with someone who follows and reflects their every sound, move and mood? The very young and their parents/carers are invited into a neutral space, free from toys or distractions, where four performers follow and amplify the children's activity while the adults observe. A kind of gentle ballet unfolds based on infant sound and gesture. An event that is improvisatory and utterly unpredictable for everybody involved.
Oogly Boogly was created and developed by Tom Morris (Associate Director at the Royal National Theatre) and Guy Dartnell (Time Out award-winning solo performer and Improbable Theatre collaborator).
Architects of Air designed the colourful and safe inflatable, in which Oogly Boogly takes place. This includes a welcome tent for buggies, shoes and coats.
Running Time: 45 mins
Parents and carers stay in the space throughout the session.
Supported and developed by BAC, Your Imagination and Crying Out Loud. Commissioned by Crying Out Loud.
Produced by Schtanhaus.
