CONTEMPORARY DANCE FROM AFRICA
WITH KEBAYA MOTURI


Led by Nairobi-based dancer Kebaya Moturi, this workshop promises fun and challenging physical dance experiences - a dynamic workshop, which may incorporate aspects of African Dance, contemporary techniques and improvisation. Please come in loose clothing. Suitable for ages 14+ (no previous dance experience necessary).

CHOREOGRAPHIC WEEKEND

Woking Dance Festival’s international artist in residence KEBAYA MOTURI (Nairobi, Kenya) leads an improvisation and choreography weekend for South-East based dancers. The weekend will include the development of a short performance piece based on his practice with dancers in Nairobi, to be presented as part of the International Shorts performance on Thursday 18 October.
Kebaya Moturi is artistic director of Ukenia Dance Company. His solo HISIA has toured world-wide, including a sell-out performance at Woking Dance Festival 2007.

NOTE: participants will need to be available for a rehearsal on Wed 17 October, 6.30pm – 7.30pm and the performance on Thu 18 October at 7.45pm, at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre.
