Immerse yourself in an evening of exquisite new dance works from one of UK’s fast - rising choreographers. Inspired by music, architecture and modern urban life, Rashpal Singh Bansal presents five contrasting pieces of fast choreography, ranging in mood from the light-hearted to the edgy.
The ritualistic trio Delta Forms is set to a minimal electronic soundtrack. Webern’s haunting music for strings forms the base for the sensuous and intricate quartet Four for Webern, and the premiere of his newest creation, London offers a personal take on the vibrancy of modern city life; an exuberant quintet.
Transitions Dance Company – on their first visit to Woking - perform the triumphant Underground, a sharp explosion of movement, which brilliantly shows off the physicality and prowess of the seven-strong company.
Plus: a new short piece created with and performed by the Surrey County Youth Dance Company.
Rashpal Singh Bansal has created work for The Royal Opera House (ROH2), Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, The Place, Transitions Dance Company and Woking Dance Festival. London was commissioned by Woking Dance Festival with the support of The Fenton Arts Trust and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
